Love We Left Behind
Joshua Britt / Clayton Britt
Sunrise, and the moment’s right
Roll down your window, let in the morning light
Let’s turn the radio down
And take the long way around
Where you go I’ll follow
Take every side road
Together maybe we’ll find
Love we left behind
We may be gone a long time
But it’s always easy passing
We may be so far from home
But it’s always easy passing
Highways along the coastline
Why don’t you hold me, and share your thoughts with mine
And let temptation find its way in
We may not pass this way again
Where you go I’ll follow
Take every side road
Together maybe we’ll find
Love we left behind
Everyone is Talking
Zach Bevill
Say it once and you shout it out loud
He’s a man with his head in a cloud
He can’t see if it’s up or it’s down
He don’t know what’s coming around
Change the tone but the voice is the same
Always screaming out the same old refrain
They don’t know if he’s right or insane
No one listens but he don’t complain
Everyone is talking, everyone is singing the blues
Everyone is talking, everyone is saying it’s true
Everyone is talking, everyone is talking for two
Listen once and he’ll tell you again
Better find out who’s a foe or a friend
He says the world is gonna come to an end
If it’s not, then let’s just pretend
The earth is cold and the market crashed
Men and women run and stumble for cash
Try to figure out a way to relax
Wonder how long all this will last
Everyone is talking, everyone is singing the blues
Everyone is talking, everyone is saying it’s true
Everyone is talking, everyone is talking for two
Sunnyside Drive
Joshua Britt
On Sunnyside there is a boy collecting baseball cards
And he lays them in the middle of the street
Telling everyone to watch their feet
So his cards stay neat
In the house there is the nanny with the newspaper
And tobacco juice is running down her cheek
And the children play around her feet
Till she falls asleep
Sunnyside, in all the dim street light
See the world glowing like a neon sign
Sunnyside might be suburban life
But everybody needs a place to hide
On Sunnyside there is a pilot selling photographs
That he’s taken from the cockpit of his plane
But every picture looks the same
Just houses, fields, and things
Sunnyside, in all the dim street light
See the world glowing like a neon sign
Sunnyside might be suburban life
But everybody needs a place to hide
On the doorstep with a suitcase an evangelist
With a pamphlet titled everlasting love
And he pauses for advice from above
And gives the door a shove
Sunnyside, in all the dim street light
See the world glowing like a neon sign
Sunnyside might be suburban life
But everybody needs a place to hide
All We Need
Zach Bevill / Trevor Brandt
Love’s not a game
We all just wanna be, all just wanna find love
We’re all the same
It’s deep inside of me, deep inside of you too
So I’ll take the blame
It’s just a part of it, just a part of the truth
It’s such a shame
I cry a little bit, cry for me and for you
All we need is for someone to understand
All we need is just a place where we can land
Someone who can make this right
And show us that the world is bright
And we will make it through the night
So tell me please
What you want from me, what you want me to do
I’m on my knees
I’m here for you to see, here for the love of you
All we need is for someone to understand
All we need is just a place where we can land
Someone who can make this right
And show us that the world is bright
And we will make it through the night
Virginia Bell
Joshua Britt / Zach Bevill
When first I came to Nashville, Virginia Bell and me
We put on both our cowboy boots and went upon a spree
One day soon a blue eyed boy, he stole away her eye
And here I sit in Nashville just wishing I would die
The walls are caving in boys, they’re leaning in on me
Everywhere I look boys, Virginia Bell I see
I took a job on Broad trading nickels for a dime
A little bit of everything to keep her off my mind
But it ain’t helping much I can barely make the rent
I’m waiting on an angel that must be heaven sent
The walls are caving in boys, they’re leaning in on me
Everywhere I look boys, Virginia Bell I see
If you see Virginia somewhere along the line
Don’t tell her the shape I’m in, say I’m doing fine
Won’t you write and tell about the smile across her face
Then I’ll know she hasn’t changed though I’ve been replaced
The walls are caving in boys, they’re leaning in on me
Everywhere I look boys, Virginia Belle I see
Love Me Good and Plain
Joshua Britt
Oh what a vision of you found in a morning wake
Dressed in a wave of sun as the day begins to break
Underneath a soft duvet
Oh love me good and plain
I wandered in from twilight, felt my way through the rain
Heard the ticking of a timepiece through the narrow lane
Into your arms again
Oh love me good and plain
And when at last you’ve found me, eyes moist with evening dew
We danced a lover’s two-step in our living room
And vinyl music played
Oh love me good and plain
And when we lie together, kissing cheeks to end the day
Just memorizing moments for when love turns to grey
Thank you Lord each day
Oh love me good and plain
And when at last you’ve found me, eyes moist with evening dew
We danced a lover’s two-step in our wooden living room
And the vinyl music played
Love me good and plain
Vinyl music played
Love me good and plain
River Song
Zach Bevill
I’m sittin on the bank here below
The world up there waits, yes I know
But I’m gonna sit for a while
With the rocks and the water and the sky
Oh let the river flow, let it take me where it wants to
I’ve got no place to go, at least no place I want to
I can let my worries go, and watch them float away just for today
Away
I’m draggin my feet through the day
The mud of this life never wanes
We all need a place we can go
Somewhere to rest a weary soul
Oh let the river flow, let it take me where it wants to
I’ve got no place to go, at least no place I want to
I can let my worries go, and watch them float away just for today
Away
Feel the waves rush over me
Let the water set me free
It’s a blue sky, it’s a new life
Oh let the river flow, let it take me where it wants to
I’ve got no place to go, at least no place I want to
I can let my worries go, and watch them float away just for today
Away
Please Dream of Me Tonight
Joshua Britt / Zach Bevill
Every night I dream
I dream of you
Tonight I will write down for me
Just so I don’t forget
Come morning light
Tonight please dream of me
I’m glad to lie here
You can guide what’s inside
My mind, it seems so full
In this moment
Just dream of me
Tonight once again
At daylight you may be gone
But the words left behind us
Will remind us
Of only, yes only, tonight
I’m glad to lie here
You can guide what’s inside
My mind, it seems so full
In this moment
Just dream of me
Tonight once again
At daylight you may be gone
But the words left behind us
Will remind us
Of only, yes only, tonight
Old Friends
Joshua Britt / Zach Bevill
While thumbing my way through a half written prayer
I felt soft fingers running through my hair
The words in my mind they left me sad
Thoughts of my friends and all the times we had
My eyes felt sore as they move to the ground
In the very room where we all were bound
It was here together we spent our past
And for every tear fallen we recovered with a laugh
For once more to sit together again
For once more to see my old friends
All of the dollars that were ever to my name
I’d give without a worry, for our lives again to be the same
On these old wooden floors our boots once danced
We told our stories and we found romance
Picked one another found our love with friends
And found our humor in the worlds lens
With no lonely times our friends were worth more than gold
With our young eyes we could never grow old
It felt our time together had just begun
And just as it came, it went away as none
For once more to sit together again
For once more to see my old friends
All of the dollars that were ever to my name
I’d give without a worry, for our lives again to be the same
Whatever force led our paths to cross
Left us with only ourselves to boss
And our decisions always seemed to depend
On the path that we were living would surely never end
Now our time must have slipped away
Each of my friends now has gone astray
And here alone my time runs dry
A room once filled with laughter left as empty as the sky
For once more to sit together again
For once more to see my old friends
All of the dollars that were ever to my name
I’d give without a worry, for our lives again to be the same
Wake Up
Zach Bevill
We are all a part of the American dream
We’ve fallen asleep in a world of misery
We are all a part of something we don’t really mean
Where is truth, I ask you?
Wake up, wake up, wake up, the storm is coming in
Wake up, wake up, wake up, your light is getting dim
Everything that’s bought and sold will surely have a price
The currency of comfort really makes for bad advice
And just because it feels good that don’t make it right
Where is truth, I ask you?
Wake up, wake up, wake up, the storm is coming in
Wake up, wake up, wake up, your light is getting dim
Don’t ask any questions and you won’t hear a lie
Words are the poison of men who live and die
Action always speaks where the tongue would always fail
And nothing we can say will ensure that love prevails
Wake up, wake up, wake up, the storm is coming in
Wake up, wake up, wake up, your light is getting dim
We are all a part of the American dream
We’ve fallen asleep in a world of misery
We are all a part of something we don’t really mean
Fight to Find Your Way
Joshua Britt
Tell me please, will I find peace of mind?
If I give up, Will it leave me blind?
The time will come, just don’t sit still
You’ve gotta fight to find your way
Life alone’s just the same every day
So give me some more so I find it a brand new way
And if it’s true, every word that they say
Then April will come and by summer I’m living in May
The time will come, just don’t sit still
You’ve gotta fight to find your way
We will make it, we’ll find our place somewhere
You’ve gotta fight to find your way
Time goes by and leaves a narrow path behind
Hold onto your hopes or your freedom will leave you blind
And if you feel like the Lord has let you fall
Remember on your way down that it may be your call
The time will come, just don’t sit still
You’ve gotta fight to find your way
We will make it, we’ll find our place somewhere
You’ve gotta fight to find your way
Though some devils show their face
Leave me just your saving grace
Oh dear Father and your Son
Let me be your holy one
The time will come, just don’t sit still
You’ve gotta fight to find your way
We will make it, we’ll find our place somewhere
You’ve gotta fight to find your way
Somewhere Down the Road
Joshua Britt
Somewhere down the road, somewhere down the road
I’ll make a living with this guitar somewhere down the road
You need me I know, you need me now I know
I’ll find time to kiss on you somewhere down the road
Oh we’ll be poor a while, but don’t forget your smile
Babe, one of my schemes will lead us to your dreams
No matter what I do, I’ll come home to you
Somewhere down the road
Somewhere down the road, somewhere down the road
I’ll buy you a diamond ring, somewhere down the road
You need me I know, you need me now I know
I’ll find time to kiss on you somewhere down the road
Oh put on your Sunday dress, and we’ll act like we’re blessed
Don’t take off the tags, babe I’d love you in rags
No matter what you say, I’ll be there for you to stay
Somewhere down the road
Somewhere down the road, somewhere down the road
You’ll smile at me from the second row, somewhere down the road
You need me I know, you need me now I know
I’ll find time to kiss on you somewhere down the road
Oh I’ll keep on writing songs, and you just sing along
And one day soon I know they’ll take us where we want to go
And everything you see will be along with me
Somewhere down the road
Somewhere down the road, somewhere down the road
I’ll make a living with this guitar somewhere down the road
You need me I know, you need me now I know
I’ll find time to kiss on you somewhere down the road
